Why should you fish on the The SEEKER?

After hours of scouring the internet and reading website after website and checking in on all the fishing forums you have decided that the North Shore of Oahu is the place to fish. Now all that’s left is to pick a boat… So how do you choose?  The SEEKER is a tournament rigged 45′ Hatteras spoprtfishing yacht. She is powered by two twin turbo super-charged V8 Detroit Diesel motors making her the fastest, most stable and  most powerful charter boat in the fleet. The Seeker has a large flybridge that can seat up to six people and is covered by an extra large fiberglass hard top providing for lots of shade. The flybridge is fully wrapped with aluminum handrails and has an over-sized ladder for added comfort while climbing up and down. The cockpit of the Seeker features a beautiful teak Scopinich fighting chair along with a cushioned bench seat. In the main air conditioned salon (cabin) there are two full sized couches that are perfect for relaxing during the ride. The Seeker also has a full galley with micro wave, range with oven, stainless steel sink with fresh cold and hot water for preparing meals, and all cooking utensils are onboard. Mid-ship you will find the cleanest head (toilet) you have ever seen along with two private bunks in the main stateroom, with a second private head and full sized shower. In the forward stateroom there are two more full sizes bunks for sleeping comfort. The Seeker is the premier charter boat out of Haleiwa and is also available for outer island and / or multi-day fishing trips if desired.

What about the fishing tackle?

Will it be in good working order and able to help land that fish of a lifetime? Our tackle is top notch and we have plenty of it. We use only tournament quality reels from Shimano, Penn and Avet. Our rods and reels vary in size to handle the largest of billfish well exceeding 1,000 pounds right down to the smallest of game fish in the 10-25 pound range. We have a large selection of artificial lures and bait fish to catch whatever is biting in a variety of conditions and seasons. The SEEKER’S four fish boxes can hold over 2000 pounds of fish (just in case). We spend more on ice each day than most people spend on gas for their car in a week to insure that the fish is kept fresh. Every day The SEEKER leaves the harbor, she is prepared to do battle with as many fish as her captain and crew can find. Every piece of tackle is routinely serviced and maintained. You can be confident that when you jump into that fighting chair, our tackle will be up to the challenge.

The SEEKER is also routinely inspected by her owner to make sure that after each outing we are doing our jobs to wash and scrub her decks, walls, heads, and galley to remove salt spray, food, trash, and fish remains.Their standards are drill sergeant high. And everything is sparking, clean, dry, and odorless all of the time. But don’t take our word for it, come down to the harbor and see for yourself. We will be happy to show you around. The SEEKER and all of her her crew fully complies with all United States Coast Guard Regulations.

Fishing Charter Information

Chupu Sport Fishing Charters offers full day and half day sportfishing adventures. We are also available for custom whale watching and multi-day fishing trips to outer islands. What to bring on your fishing charter

  • Food and beverages for the day but PLEASE leave your bananas at home as they are considered BAD LUCK!! Alcoholic beverages are OK but make sure you also bring an adequate supply of bottled water. We have  large coolers and ice on board for you to use.
  • Sunglasses, hat (wide brimmed is best) and sunscreen. Our day is long and the Hawaiian sun is intense, so bring the maximum protective barrier to avoid seriously painful sunburn and skin cancer – SPF 30 or more is recommended.
  • Light windbreaker or wearable rain gear for the well prepared. Long sleeve shirt for sun protection and cloudy/rainy/windy situations (layering is best!)
  • Deck shoes with good grip soles when standing in water. Flip flops don’t hold up well on wet decks and high seas, Crocs, surf shoes or Aqua Socks are OK.
  • Camera and or video equipment
  • Motion sickness medication should be taken the night before and once again the morning of your trip. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist for recommendations.

Oahu, North Shore Sportfishing

People typically think of Marlin fishing off the Kona Coast on the Big Island of Hawaii. However, Oahu is home to some of Hawaii’s best open-ocean (pelagic) fishing grounds with abundant schools of Dolphin Fish (Mahi Mahi), Yellowfin Tuna (Ahi), Wahoo (Ono), Skipjack Tuna (Aku) and, of course, the infamous Pacific Blue Marlin (A’u). Many do not realize that the world’s largest Marlin ever landed on rod and reel was caught off Oahu weighing in at 1,805 lbs. Overall, the Blue Marlin is considered the ultimate star of big game fishing, the biggest and the best, made famous by Hemingway and sought after for decades by sport fisherman all over the world.

The best location for fishing on Oahu is on Oahu’s legendary north shore – known for its world class surfing and its incredible deep sea fishing. The North Shore of Oahu is in the direct path of trade winds and currents from the Northwestern Pacific and is a place where the ocean depths drop quickly into very deep waters. A key factor in making the North Shore the best place to fish include the deep water along with the strong currents that bring new bait and game fish into our offshore waters. The center of North Shore Sportfishing is Haleiwa Harbor in the historic town of Haleiwa, where our boat are docked in the harbor.

Sport fishing with Chupu Sport Fishing Charters is a serious fishing adventure for an angler of any skill level. Let our experienced and professional crew be your guide to a once-in-a-lifetime journey! We will cruise the waters outside of Haleiwa Harbor from Turtle Bay to the north of Haleiwa to Ka’ena Point and to the west. These fishing grounds possess breathtaking island views, surprisingly few charter boats, and generate lots of fishing action!

day fishing trips available, Chupu Sport Fishing Charters packed schools of Mahi Mahi, want to battle an angry Wahoo, a fight with a giant Yellowfin Tuna, or a chance at landing a 1,000 pound Marlin

Oahu Sea Conditions

A typical day on the north and east side of any of the Hawaiian islands is 15-20mph breeze from the east and an 4’ sea with some chop thrown in to make it interesting. Since the water is so deep offshore the large winter surf does not affect the sea conditions offshore in the fishing grounds. What makes the boat move around is the wind and the sea and chop generated by it blowing across thousands of miles of ocean before reaching hawaii. When a low pressure
